Greenacres home wins HIA Liveable Home Award

inhousing is delighted to announce that Grand Designer Homes has won the HIA Liveable Home Award and received a commendation for Specialised Housing of the Year for our newest SDA home in Greenacres.

The judges recognised a project that puts the needs and dignity of residents first. From the outset, inhousing and Grand Designer Homes collaborated with the future tenant so they could shape their own home. Input on layout, finishes and technology informed decisions that feel personal, not generic. The result is a place that is warm and residential while still meeting individual access needs.

Accessibility is built into the fabric. Wide circulation spaces support easy movement. Automated systems handle access, lighting and environmental controls. A 7 Star energy rating improves comfort and keeps running costs down. These are practical choices that make everyday life safer, simpler and more sustainable.

Integrated assistive technology is what sets this project apart. Devices and software are embedded so they work with the home, not around it. People can control their environment, communicate quickly with support, and maintain privacy and independence. It is a clear example of how inhousing designs technology in from day one, rather than adding it as an afterthought.

The award also reflects a strong, outcomes-focused partnership. Grand Designer Homes led the build, with specification and construction management by Alistair Trethowan. Inclusive technology solutions were delivered by the expert team at Stretchy Tech to ensure seamless performance between hardware, software and the physical design.

First unveiled alongside the 2024-2027 inhousing Strategic Plan, Greenacres shows how collaboration and innovation can raise the bar for accessible housing. This recognition is a win for the project team and, more importantly, for people who want a home that supports independence, comfort and choice today and into the future.
